DIY Floral Mantle Or Wall Hanging.
Bennett & Marissa's Table.
We chose a dramatic stone fireplace with a slate hearth as the primary focal point of the room for Bennett & Marissa's baby shower. To add impact, we created this easy hand-made floral hanging for the front of the mantle.
What you'll need:
1 Sturdy Branch app. 1-2" diameter in your preferred length
1 Roll Thin Flexible Wire
Artificial Vines or Trailing Plants
1 Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
1 Square of Tin Foil to set your glue gun on
I bought all of these artificial trailing greens at a second hand shop for about $10. I also raided my box of miscellaneous florals to find some random flowers that matched our color scheme. Faux florals can be very expensive! If you have time it is worth it to visit some second hand stores and begin collecting floral items a soon as possible.
I went out in my yard and harvested a sturdy tree branch that was about an inch thick and relatively straight. I wrapped the branch in thin, flexible wire and tucked the florals under the wire. I continued to wire more of the greens on until I had the look I wanted.
I used my trusty glue gun to add the random flowers, and then hung the decorated branch on the mantle. If you don't have a fireplace, you could just as easily achieve the same effect by hanging it on a wall or suspending it behind a dessert table.
I made this one and hung it about 4 weeks before the Baby Shower, so it was one of the first things I was able to cross off of my lengthy list. Check!
When the fresh flowers arrived on the day of the Baby Shower, I added a spray of lovely fresh pink peonies in the center for a pop of color and fragrance.
